Today, marks the 45th Anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, the infamous ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that legalized abortion which is equal to murder. The court ruled in a 7 to 2 decision that abortion was a woman’s right to choose and that the fetus was not a human being. This decision was sinful in itself. The Catholic Church in the United States condemned the decision and so did the Eastern Orthodox Church, many conservative Protestant denominations, and Orthodox Jewish groups. Ever since then, pro-life Americans have been working to overturn the 1973 Supreme Court decision and protect unborn children from abortion. Since January 22,1973, over 60 million Americans have been killed through abortion. Since 1974, pro-life Americans of all political stripes and religious affiliations have participated in the March for Life in Washington, D.C., and nationwide in protest of the sinful January 22,1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade. As a Catholic, I am firmly opposed to abortion. It’s the destruction of innocent human life. These unborn children have a right to live. No one has the right to take the lives of these unborn children away. Right now, he was a Republican President Donald Trump who is strongly pro-life and a Republican controlled House and Senate that is strongly pro-life. Hopefully, we can work to undo the sin of January 22,1973.
